So, everyone knows that an itchy head is a sign of lice, but today I am going to clue you in on some of the lesser known signs that you might have critters living in your head:
1. If you or your child has seen black stuff that resembles dirt under their nails after itching your head, this is a telltale sign. It’s either the lice feces or eggs, but either way, get yourself to a professional to be checked!
2. If you head feels like it’s stinging when the shower water hits it, this may be a sign you have lice.
3. If you child is waking frequently at night, check for eggs. Lice can be more active at night and the itching interrupts sleep!
4. If you child has a rash on their neck, even if you have seen a pediatrician or dermatologist who declares they need steroid cream or antifungal cream, you should check for lice. Faint pink rashes on the neck are a telltale sign of lice. It’s baffling to me how many parents have already had their kiddos checked by a pediatrician or dermatologist who missed the signs of lice.
